Using playwork philosophy as developed on adventure playgrounds in Europe over 75 years ago, children have the unique opportunity to engage in self-directed play based on their own interests & motivations. Your kids will have access to a multitude of "Loose Parts" which enhances the play experience.  KOOP's director brings this philosophy to Adventure Play After School at University Primary School. This offers a unique, mixed- age play environment where kids can socialize, learn to negotiate and engage with kids they may not otherwise have the chance to play with.

Children are supported using "lightest touch" intervention styles, per playwork philosophy. Playworkers believe that children are capable, competant and have a right to self- directed play. Playworkers create environments ripe for all play types and protect play as the top priority during this special time.

So often we parents hear about "after school restraint collapse" or feel the pressure to engage in all the adult- structured activities or more academics.  What children need after a day of school and self- regulation combined with adult agendas and little autonomy is time, space and freedom to play-- to really follow their interests, passions and ideas and to synthesize the knowledge they're processing.
